UNIMIB TEAM
DR. CARLO SANTORO (PROJECT PI)
Carlo Santoro got his Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut in 2009, working on microbial fuel cells. He moved to the University of New Mexico in 2013 working on platinum-free electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction and supercapacitive bio-electrochemical systems. Following a spell as Lecturer at the University of Manchester (2020), he joined the University of Milano- Bicocca in 2021 as Assistant Professor, where he established the Electrocatalysis and Bioelectrocatalysis Lab (EBLab). His work focuses on development of electrocatalysts based on platinum-group metal-free materials for electrochemical systems, pursuing biomimetic and bioinspired approaches. He has published over 125 manuscripts (Hindex=45) and holds 2 patents.
PROF. SIMONA BINETTI
Simona Binetti is Full Professor of Physical Chemistry at University of Milano-Bicocca, Dean of the School of Science of the same University and Director of Milano Bicocca Solar energy Research Center, representing UNIMIB in Joint Program on Photovoltaics of European Energy Research Alliance. Graduated in Physics, Master in Material Science and PhD in Chemistry. Recognized expert in effect of defects on opto-electronical properties of silicon based semiconductor. Involved in 10 European Project, 9 national about PV some of them as leader, collaborating in research for private owned companies. Currently leading 4 projects. Co-author 150 peer reviewed publications, 4 chapter books, 4 patents mainly in the field of Photovoltaics.
PROF. PIERCARLO MUSTARELLIĀ
Piercarlo Mustarelli is Full Professor of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry at the University of Milano Bicocca. He has been active on materials for batteries and fuel cells along the last 30 years. He is founder and past-President of the Italian Association for Electrochemical Energy Storage (GISEL). Recently he has been ranked among the top 2% scientists in the world (1999-2019) carried out by Stanford University. He published about 300 papers on international peer-reviewed journals, with more than 10000 citations and H-index = 51 (Scopus).
