DR. IRENE VASSALINI (UNIT PI)

Irene Vassalini obtained a master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Pavia (2013) and a PhD in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Brescia (2017). She is currently an RTD-A Researcher at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Brescia. Her scientific interests concern the development of "smart" (nano)materials for the detection and capture of pollutants from water and catalysts for the production of energy carriers. She is part of the Chemistry and Sustainable Materials group of the University of Brescia, and in her research activity, she aims to combine the development of highly functional materials with sustainable production processes. She has published 30 papers (Hindex= 14) and holds 1 patent.

DR. STEFANIA FEDERICI (UNIT PI)

Stefania Federici received her PhD in Technologies and Energetic Systems for Mechanical Industry (University of Brescia) in 2012 and her M.Sc. degree (cum laude) in Physics from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 2008. She is currently Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Brescia. Her research activity is focused on the realization of more realistic test materials for micro and nanoplastics environmental pollution. She is also interested in the study of the interaction between nanoplastics and biological systems. She is responsible for the “Chem-Bio-Nano Interfaces” division at the Chemistry for Technologies Laboratory at the University of Brescia.

PROF. PAOLO IORA

Paolo Iora has been full professor of Energy systems at University of Brescia since 2018. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 2000. In 2004 he was a postgraduate student at Imperial College (London). In 2005, he earned his doctorate in Energetics at Politecnico di Milano. He was visiting professor at MIT (Boston) in February-April 2010 and September 2012. His research activities mainly focus on advanced systems for energy conversion and storage. He has published approximately 70 papers and has participated in several research projects funded by the EU and Italian Government. Currently, he is responsible for EU projects DESOLINATION and TOPCSP.

DR. LAURA ROCCA

Laura Rocca is lecturer in Accounting at the University of Brescia, Italy. She gained a Ph.D. in Business and Law at the University of Brescia and Bergamo, Italy, in 2019 with a thesis on the social dimension of the Circular Economy. She teaches Accounting for bachelor’s students and Accounting Analytics at master’s students. Her research interests are sustainability reporting, circular economy and digital innovation (i.e. blockchain in business). She published papers on those themes in international journals such as Journal of Cleaner Production, International Journal of Information Management, Business Strategy and the Environment, Meditari Accountancy Research and Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management.
